I Love Old Things

Room 5

My sister’s mother-in-law passed away a few years ago and one of her daughters inherited her handkerchiefs.  She thought I might enjoy them.  I thought for a while about how I might use them. I suspect I found this on pinterest. I washed and ironed them and then clipped them to the curtain rod.  I just love that she gave them to me and they look terrific!  Oh and I almost forgot, the cool sign above was painted by my son Chris’ girlfriend Grace for Christmas–love it!

Been gone for a while…

This summer we put in a new patio. I have spent a lot of time painting furniture and sewing cushions. I’ve also worked in the garden, so not too much sewing going on. Here are some shots of out patio and the cushions I made–super easy!

and here are some scenes from our October 25th outdoor party.  Must be global warming that has allowed us to BBQ this late in the season!

A stitch in time…

I sure wish I had more free motion quilting confidence. It would have been so fun to do some fun designs on this quilt. I was with it a long time before jumping in. I had this past week off and knew it was now or never–besides, the shower is a few days away.

I chose lots of straight lines and a little curve for the flower blocks.
